Grievance policy
If a student has a grievance that cannot be resolved to their satisfaction with the student’s immediate instructor,
the students must make their grievance known to the Campus Director.
Grievances can only be submitted by the student involved. If the grievance is still not resolved after allowing for
a reasonable amount of time for correction and the student wishes to register a formal complaint, please complete
the grievance form or submit a detailed letter describing the following within 60 days of the event:
- Describe in detail the problem and person(s) involved
- Date of the occurrence
- Name of the staff member you previously brought this grievance to
- Date you brought it to their attention
- How did you want the problem to be rectified
- What was done by the staff to rectify the problem
- Why do you feel the problem was not rectified to your satisfaction
- What suggestions do you have for a resolution
Send via email to Margaret McIntyre maggie@nvlet.com

investigation or review is needed. - If the student has been dropped from the program, they may appeal the decision in writing to the Campus
Director within seven business days. - All grievances/appeals will be responded to either verbally or in writing within 30 days by school personnel. 5.
Please monitor the email address used to submit your complaint. A response or request for more information will
be sent to that address. Failure to respond to requests within ten days will be considered as an abandonment of
the complaint and will result in the closure of the investigation.
Grievance Policy for Veterans & Active Duty
The purpose of the Student Grievance Policy and Procedures is to provide a fair and orderly process to resolve
grievances. Grievances may include, but are not limited to, concerns and/ or disputes between a student and an
instructor or school employee; grade disputes; discrimination based on race, age, sex, disability, or sexual
harassment.
The Director of Education is responsible for overseeing the process and resolution of a grievance. If a resolution
is not attained after going through all channels, the President of VTA will review the case and make the final
decision. This procedure will apply to all student grievances.
To maintain goodwill, a grievance shall be raised within five (5) calendar days following either the event giving
rise to the grievance or within five (5) calendar days of the time when the student reasonably should have known of
its occurrence. Every effort shall be made by all parties to expedite the process and to first attempt an informal
resolution.
A student who is experiencing an issue with an instructor or administrative official must first attempt to resolve the issue informally by discussing the grievance with the person with whom the issue exists.
If the grievance cannot be resolved informally at the first step, then a written grievance must be initiated by the
student within fourteen (14) calendar days from the date that the student initiated the informal discussion. A
Student Grievance Form is available from the Director of Education, and the completed form should be turned in
to the Director of Education. The Director of Education will review the case and render a written decision within
14 calendar days.
If the student is still dissatisfied with the outcome, he or she may write a letter to the VTA President, requesting
an appeal and review. A Letter of Appeal must be submitted to the President within 14 calendar days from the date
of the Director of Education’s written decision.
The VTA President will review the case and make a final decision within 14 calendar days from date on the
Letter of Appeal.
If the student has exhausted all available procedures established by VTA and feels the resolution is still not
satisfactory, he or she may contact SCHEV as a last resort in the grievance process. For students who are
veterans, the Virginia State Approving Agency (SAA) is the approving authority of education and training
programs forVirginia. While most complaints should initially follow school grievance policy, if the situation
cannot be resolved at the school, the beneficiary should contact the Virginia Department of Veterans Services.
